There are big ships and small ships. But the best ship of all is friendship.

“A blessed thing it is for any man or woman to have a friend, one human soul whom we can trust utterly, who knows the best and worst of us, and who loves us in spite of all our faults.” ~ Charles Kingsley

When ancient ships would drift apart at sea, they would often use beacons of light to signal the other. You can’t latch onto another vessel that has drifted too far away but you can provide the means for them to navigate back towards you. One degree at a time, slowly but surely, over the vastness of ocean between you.

Find the light, that warm and familiar feeling that brought you together in the first place, and signal your friend. Perhaps they feel as lost as you? Then set your compass in the right direction and wait. Use that time to discover the err in your calculations. For even the smallest deviation from your heading of friendship may not seem apparent at first, but on such a long journey, you may both end up lost and far from each other.

To my best friend Arjie a.k.a Monkey I miss you.
